Tigers Outlast Chestnut Hill as Sabatano Leads Way With 17 Kills

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team had four players record double-digit kills as the Tigers picked up a 3-2 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Tuesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium. 
 
Holy Family improves to 8-9 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill falls to 6-11 overall and 4-4 in conference action. 
 
After a 25-22 victory by Chestnut Hill in set one to open the match, Holy Family responded with back-to-back victories in sets two and three by identical 25-16 scores.  Trailing 2-1 entering set four, Chestnut Hill opened set four with a commanding lead and ended up tying the match with a 25-17 victory in set four.
 
In the fifth and decisive set, Holy Family outlasted Chestnut Hill with a 15-13 win to clinch the match. 
 
Sophomore Charlotte Sabatano (Fredrick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) tied her career-high with 17 kills to lead the Holy Family offense.  In two matches this season versus the Griffins, Sabatano has totaled 33 kills.  She also tallied 13 digs in the victory.  Senior Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) tallied 13 kills, while sophomore Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished with 12 kills and 11 digs.  Sophomore Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) also chipped in double-digits in kills with 11.  She also led the match with four service aces to go along with nine digs.
 
Senior Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) finished the match with a high 49 set assists to go along with four kills and seven digs.  Junior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) led the match with 19 digs.  Redshirt freshman Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) contributed six kills and two block assists.
 
For Chestnut Hill, freshman Madison McBride led the Griffins with 12 kills to go along with 13 digs. Senior Alexandra DePalma finished with six kills and 12 digs, while fellow classmate Mary Markowski tallied five kills.  Freshman Emily Drew led the team with 29 set assists, while tallying seven digs on the defensive end.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Friday, Oct. 11 as the Tigers travel to face Wilmington University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
