Tigers Come Up Short at Nyack, 3-2

Nyack, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a five set match at Nyack College by the score of 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Bowman Gymnasium. 
 
Holy Family is now 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the CACC, while Nyack improves to 8-11 overall and 4-2 in conference play.  
 
Nyack took the first set by the score of 25-15, however Holy Family responded with back-to-back victories in sets two and three to take a 2-1 match lead.  The Tigers took set two by the score of 27-25 and followed with a 25-22 win in set number three. 
 
Nyack though came through with a tough 26-24 victory in set four to tie the match at 2-2 and then clinch the match with a 15-13 win in the fifth and decisive set.
 
Junior Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) had a career day defensively for the Tigers as she totaled a career-best 32 digs.  She was also credited with four set assists and two block assists.  Sophomore Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) led the Tigers offense for the third straight match with a team-best 12 kills.  Herring also had six digs and two service aces.
 
Sophomore Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) tallied ten kills to go along with ten digs, while redshirt freshman Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) contributed nine kills.  Sophomore Charlotte Sabatano (Fredrick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) filled the stat sheet with seven kills, three service aces and 11 digs.  Senior Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) registered 38 set assists and 18 digs. 
 
For Nyack, sophomore Samantha Garza led all players with 24 kills after registering an attack percentage of .426.  Senior Deborah Schendel finished with a match-best 26 digs to go along with nine kills, while senior setter Brianna Kane recorded 50 set assists and 18 digs.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest.   Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
