Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team picked up its fifth straight victory after defeating Chestnut Hill College, 3-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Thursday night.
With the win, Holy Family improves to 10-9 overall and 7-0 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill drops to 7-10 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Holy Family began the match trailing 1-0 after dropping the first set to Chestnut Hill by the score of 25-22. However, the Tigers bounced back and won the next three sets to record the 3-1 match victory. Holy Family took set two by the score of 25-14 and then won a hard-fought third set, 27-15. The Tigers clinched the match with a 25-19 victory in set four.
Sophomore
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) led Holy Family with a .414 attack percentage after recorded 13 kills in the match. Ambach also tallied two solo blocks and two block assists. Freshman
Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) recorded ten kills after recording an attack percentage of .409.
Senior
Jillian Keeve (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Twp.) came through with a match-high 14 kills to go along with 13 digs. This marked the sixth straight match that Keeve has recorded double-figures in kills. Sophomore
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) recorded a match-high 38 assists to go along with nine digs. Senior
Jordan Beland (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) contributed a team-best 19 digs on the defensive side.
For Chestnut Hill, Katherine Tohanczyn led the way with 11 kills, while Alex DePalma and Mary Markowski each tallied ten kills apiece. Sidney Chukuntarod had a team-high 29 assists, while Liz DiGregorio tallied 26 digs.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Tigers travel to Orangeburg, N.Y. to face Dominican College in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
