Springfield, Mass. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team wrapped up the final day of the American International College Invitational by splitting a pair of non-conference matches Saturday afternoon.
Holy Family lost to fellow conference member Dominican College, 3-0, and later bounced back and defeated host American International by the score of 3-0. The Tigers are now 2-8 overall this season.
In its first match of the day, Holy Family lost in straight sets by the scores of 22-25, 18-25, and 20-25. Stats from this match for Holy Family are currently unavailable.
Later in the day, the Tigers defeated American International by the scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-21. Sophomore Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) led the way with ten kills, while junior Cara Przbylowicz added eight kills to go along with five digs. Sophomore Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford), who was named to the All-Tournament team, had 31 assists and 12 digs.
For American International, Caitlin Connelly had 14 kills and 18 digs to lead the Yellow Jackets. Ellisha Terry added 13 kills and 12 digs, while Taila de Souza recorded 26 assists. Connelly was named to the All-Tournament team.
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, September 13 as the Tigers travel to face cross-town rival Philadelphia University in the team's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the season. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
