Women’s Volleyball Falls to Caldwell in CACC Championship

Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team came up short in its bid of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship as Caldwell College defeated the Tigers, 3-1, in the CACC Championship Final Saturday afternoon at Georgian Court University.
 
Holy Family concludes it season at 25-11 as the Tigers won 12 of its last 13 matches.  The Tigers' 25 wins this season set a new program record breaking the old mark of 23 victories set in 2008.   Caldwell improves to 26-4 overall and will be advancing to the NCAA Division II Tournament after earning the CACC's automatic qualifying bid. 
 
Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match after taking the first two sets by identical 25-23 scores.  Holy Family bounced back in the third set and cut the match lead to 2-1 with a 25-23 win.  The Tigers nearly forced a fifth set, however the Cougars rallied and took set four by the score of 25-21 to clinch the match.
 
Sophomore Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) led Holy Family with 13 kills and three total blocks.  She also finished with two solo blocks and one block assist.  Ambach finished the season with a .302 attack percentage breaking her single season record of .280 that she set last season.  Senior Alyssa Keihl (Pewaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) tallied 11 kills to go along with a team-high five service aces and ten digs. Both players were named to the All-Tournament team for their performances during the championship.
 
Senior Jillian Keeve (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Twp.) came through with nine kills as she finished her career with 1,299 career kills which ranks second all-time in program history.  Sophomore Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) finished the match with a high 44 set assists and also had nine digs.  Senior Jordan Beland (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) had a team-high 17 digs as she capped her all-time career mark with 1,966 total digs.
 
For Caldwell, junior Susan McDonough finished with a team-high ten kills and 20 digs as she was named the championship's Most Valuable Player.  Freshman Athena Nestoras had nine kills, while junior Amber Mosher finished with eight kills.  Senior Lauren Roth recorded 37 set assists to go along with 11 digs.
