Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to Caldwell College by the score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.
Holy Family is now 13-10 overall and 10-1 in conference play, while Caldwell improves to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in CACC action. The loss snaps Holy Family's eight game winning streak and its ten game winning streak against conference opponents.
Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0-match lead after taking the first two sets of the match by a slight margin. The Cougars won set one by the score of 26-24 and won set two, 25-23. Caldwell then clinched the match victory with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Senior
Rebecca Tett (Leesburg, Va./Notre Dame Academy) had a team-high eight kills for Holy Family, while fellow classmate
Alyssa Keihl (Pewaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) tallied seven kills to go along with six digs. Sophomore
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) added six kills and also had four block assists. Senior
Jordan Beland (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) came through with 19 digs, while sophomore
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) totaled 26 assists. Junior
Christina Mastroeni (Belleville, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) had four service aces for the Tigers.
For Caldwell, juniors Amber Mosher and Susan McDonough each tallied a team-high eight kills. McDonough also had 13 digs. Junior Maddy Amon had 26 digs, while senior Lauren Roth finished with 27 assists.
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 11 as the Tigers travel to face the University of the Sciences in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
