Men’s Soccer Holds on to Defeat Goldey-Beacom for First CACC Win of 2025

PHILADELPHIA – Two goals in the first 16:24 proved to be enough as HFU men's soccer held off Goldey-Beacom, despite an 88th minute score, for a 2-1 win at Tiger Field on Tuesday evening.

Sean McKenna (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal, heading home a Ricardo Paniccia Giraldez (O Porriño, Spain/IES Pino Manso) corner kick just 5:49 in.

Ever Maradiaga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Life Center Academy) then dispossessed the GBC keeper before dribbling into the box for an easy tap-in in the 17th minute.

After the two teams combined for just five shots in the first half, with Joey Phillips (Levittown, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) making the lone save 3:31 ahead of the break, there were 23 total in the second.

Ned Lewis (London, England/Hayesbrook) was denied twice less than two minutes part in the first 5:22, before a Jackson Kiss (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) attempt was stopped a little over a minute and a half later.

Luiz Recchimuzzi (Bahia, Brazil/Life Center Academy), Paniccia Giraldez and Adriel Grant (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro), who made his collegiate debut, all had chances to make it 3-0 kept out, the latter two 35 seconds apart in the 85th and 86th, before GBC was finally able to get on the board.

The Lightning were not able to threaten net again though, as Corey Yorke (Orange, N.J./Orange) forced the final save in the penultimate minute.

Holy Family more than doubled up the Lightning in shots on goal, 9-4, with Phillips making second half stops in the 61st and 82nd.
