HOWELL, N.J. – The Holy Family University bowling team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson at Monmouth's Garden State Classic held over the weekend.
The 836-813 triumph came in traditional play on Saturday, as
Tiffany McNally (Philadelphia, Pa/Archbishop Ryan) led the way with 187 pins.
McNally led HFU with a total of 804 pins for the day, while
Shayla Hess (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) topped the Tigers with an average of 178 pins, including a team-high 222 against Duquesne.
Maria Hindman (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) was second with 787 total pins and third with a 157.4 average.
Holy Family nearly won a second match in traditional play, tying Coppin State 748-748 before falling in a tiebreaker.
The weekend started with baker play on Friday, with HFU posting a tournament-high 897 pins in a loss to Niagara in its final match of the day.
In match play on Sunday, the Tigers ended the weekend with a 2-4 setback to Adelphi.
