How It Happened

* Holy Family overcame an early 10-5 deficit in the opening set by chipping away at the Wildcats' lead.  With Wilmington leading 20-19, the Tigers scored five straight points to come within one point of taking the first set. Back-to-back points by the Wildcats followed to make things interesting but the Tigers closed out the set with a kill from senior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic).

* The momentum from the first set carried over to the second as the Tigers made quick work of the Wildcats.  Holy Family opened with a 5-1 run and never looked back.  The Tigers used an 8-0 run fueled by three service aces by junior Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass./North Andover (Rivier College)) to take a commanding 18-4 advantage.  After three straight points by the Wildcats, the Tigers closed the set out by scoring the final seven points.

* Holy Family sealed the deal in the third set.  After going back and forth with the Wildcats the Tigers followed an 8-8 tie with an 8-2 run lead in the set, 16-10.  The Tigers used another run towards the end to clinch the match.  Holy Family scored seven of the final nine points of the set.

News and Notes

* It was an overall team effort for the Tigers.  Sophomore Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) led the match with 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage after committing only three errors.  Wassel also recorded double-digit kills with 13 to go along with a hitting percentage of .346.  She also had 10 digs on defense.

* Senior Jaime Bonner (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) finished with nine kills, while junior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) added seven kills.

* Boyle led the match with 18 digs as three players recorded double-digit digs in the match.  Senior Candyce Riley (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) finished with 11 digs.

* Freshman Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) came away with 43 assists and nine digs.
