Crystalrae States Fusaro Named New Softball Coach

Philadelphia, Pa. - Holy Family University Assistant Vice President for Athletics Sandra Michael has announced the hiring of Crystalrae States Fusaro as the Tigers' new Softball Head Coach.  States Fusaro becomes the program's sixth head coach and comes to Northeast Philadelphia after spending the past year at Harcum College.

"I am thrilled to announce the hiring of Crystalrae States Fusaro as our new softball coach," said Michael. "The experience she brings as a coach and a collegiate player will be beneficial in elevating this team to compete at the regional level. She'll lead the program on the field as well as continue to grow the high standards the team has set inside the classroom.  I am excited to see what the future holds for the program under her guidance."

States Fusaro comes to Holy Family after spending the 2016-17 academic year at Harcum College where she served as head coach of the women's volleyball team.

"I am grateful for the opportunity that Holy Family has extended to me to join them as the softball coach," said States Fusaro. "I look forward to becoming an integral part of the community and mission of the school. I plan to continue the excellence on and off the field that was established by Coach [Davon] Ortega. I want to thank Sandra Michael and the athletics department for their warm welcome."

Prior to her time at Harcum, States Fusaro served as the head softball coach at Frederick High School for two seasons (2015-2016).  During the 2014 season at Wissahickon High School her team received the PIAA Sportsmanship Award.  States Fusaro previously coached at Abington Friends School for three years (2011-2013), finishing with an overall record of 18-15 with two postseason appearances, and a Friends School League runner up in 2012.

As a player, States Fusaro was named to the 2009 NCCAA All-Tournament team during her junior season at Spring Arbor University.  The team finished the season as Finalists at the NCCAA Tournament and concluded the season with a 31-19 record.

States Fusaro holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education and recently finished her Master of Science degree in Exercise Sport and Physical Education in 2016 at McDaniel College.
