Kolodiy and Beck Honored by CACC

New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University senior Anastasiya Kolodiy (Lviv, Ukraine) and freshman Sophie Beck (Karlsruhe, Germany/Heisenberg-Gymnasium) honored by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in the first edition of the Women's Tennis Weekly Awards. Kolodiy was named the CACC Player of the Week, while Beck was selected the CACC Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 5.

Holy Family opened its season on Friday as the Tigers came away with a 7-2 victory over cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a non-conference match. Both Kolodiy and Beck went 2-0 in their respective matches in the team's lone match of the week.

Kolodiy won her first singles match over Jala Hamada in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. In return, Beck came through with a victory at second singles against Linda Zwaan, 7-5, 7-5. Prior to their singles competition victories, Kolodiy and Beck teamed up at first doubles and defeated Hamada and Zwaan by the score of 8-6.

After nearly a week off the Tigers return to action on Thursday, Sept. 8 as the team travels to face Molloy College in a non-conference contest. Match time is slated for 3 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
