Beck Selected to CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University freshman Sophie Beck (Karlsruhe, Germany/Heisenberg-Gymnasium) was among those listed on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Sept. 18 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Beck helped lead Holy Family to a 2-0 week as the Tigers defeated conference rival Chestnut Hill College, 5-4, on Wednesday and capped the week with a 9-0 shutout win at Shippensburg University.

Against Chestnut Hill, Beck won her second singles match versus Louise Charley in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5 after picking up a win in doubles competition with teammate Anastasiya Kolodiy (Lviv, Ukraine). The due defeated Laure-Anne Josso and Daniela Siqueira with ease by the score of 8-1. The Tigers win over the Griffins marked their first win over their local rival since 2010.

Beck continued her success over the weekend picking up another pair of victories against Shippensburg. She won her first doubles match with Kolodiy, 8-2, by defeating Catherine Miller and Gabbie Binder. Beck then went on to shutout Binder at second singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Through five matches this season, Beck is 3-2 in singles play and 4-1 overall in doubles competition.

Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 22 as the Tigers host Wilmington University in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 3 p.m. at the Union League Tennis Courts.
