Augustin Named to ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Central Islip, N.Y. - Holy Family University junior Taurai Augustin (Castries, Saint Lucia/St. Mary's College Secondary School) was named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 4 as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Holy Family opened the 2016-17 season this past Friday at the Metro Holiday Opener held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.  Augustin was part of two school records that fell that afternoon, including his own in the 1,000-meter run.  He finished second overall in the event and recorded a time of 2:35.09 topping his previous best time of 2:38.13 set last season at the Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Open.

Augustin was also part of the distance medley relay team that set a new school standard.  The team of Augustin, senior Juwan Jordan (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) and freshmen Ephraim Kishen (Passaic, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute) and Tarin Nelson (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute) finished second overall in 11:11.76 setting a new program record.  The previous mark of 11:15.10 was established in 2013.

Holy Family returns to action on Friday, Dec. 9 as the Tigers compete at the Wagner Shootout hosted by Wagner College at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
