Bell Named CACC Player & Rookie of the Week

New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University freshman Randy Bell (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 19 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.  This marks the second time this season that Bell has garnered CACC Rookie of the Week accolades and the first time being named the conference's top weekly player.

Holy Family went 1-1 this past week as the Tigers took part in the East Region Classic hosted by the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y.  Holy Family defeated Assumption College, 76-69, to open the two-day tournament and then fell short versus host Saint Rose, 88-81.

Bell recorded back-to-back 30-point games as he averaged 33.5 points per while shooting nearly 50.0-percent from the field.  He highlighted the week with a season-high 35 points in the win over the Greyhounds after connecting on 13-of-25 from the field.  He also totaled four rebounds and two steals.

Bell followed that up with a 32-point performance against the Golden Knights, as he knocked down a season-best six three-pointers.  It marked his fourth 30-plus scoring game of the season.  He currently leads the CACC and the East Region in scoring with 23.8 points per game.

Holy Family (5-7, 3-1 CACC) returns to action on Friday, Dec. 30 with a non-conference match up at Southern Connecticut State University.  Game time is slated for 7 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
