History Made as Women's 4x400 Relay Team Wins at Penn Relays

4x400 RESULTS

Philadelphia, Pa. - It was a record setting night for the Holy Family University women's 4x400-meter relay team as they took home first place honors for the first time in school history at the prestigious Penn Relays Thursday night hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

The Penn Relays run through Saturday, April 28 and features teams from across the nation from all three NCAA Divisions (I, II & III) as well as high school teams.

The quartet of senior Latifah Porter (Philadelphia, Pa.//Phila. High School for Girls), sophomores Zafirah Green (Philadelphia, Pa./) and Dominique Thomas (Laurelton, N.Y./Law Government Service Magnet) and freshman Sarah Bariglio (Vineland, N.J./St. Joseph HS) recorded a season-best time of 3:52.54 in the CTC Relay race to edge out Georgian Court University (3:56.03) who finished second.

The Tigers' time also broke a 13-year record held by Albany who recorded a time of 3:53.23 back in 1999.

Just a year ago, Holy Family had its women's relay team compete for the first-time ever as the 4x400 relay squad came away with a second place finish.

The team will compete again tomorrow in the 4x200-meter CTC Relay event.  Race time is slated for 2:10 p.m.  In addition, the men's 4x400-meter relay team will compete in the CTC Relay event at 5:20 p.m.
