#4 Tigers Fall to #1 Concordia, 5-0, in CACC Semifinals

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's tennis team came up short against Concordia College in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Semifinals hosted by Chestnut Hill College Saturday afternoon.  The Clippers defeated the Tigers by the score of 5-0.
 
Holy Family, seeded fourth and making its sixth straight postseason appearance under head coach Brett Shavitz, concludes the fall season with a 9-6 record.  Top-seeded Concordia improves to 9-0 overall with the victory and will advance to the CACC Championship Final on Sunday.  The Clippers will face third-seeded Chestnut Hill in the final.  The Griffins defeated second-seeded Goldey-Beacom, 5-4, in the other semifinal match.
 
Concordia took all three doubles competitions to open the match with a 3-0 lead.  Senior Juliana Victoria (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) and freshman Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia/) battled through a hard-fought first doubles match but came up short to Yuliya Plevako and Luisa Candido by the score of 8-5.
 
Concordia went on to clinch the match with victories at second and third singles.  At the time the match concluded, Victoria was leading her first singles match by one set after winning the first set 6-1.  She was leading in set two by the score of 2-1.
