New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University women's tennis freshman
Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia/) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14 as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. This marks the first time this season that Nersesyan received the conference's weekly honor.

Juliana Victoria (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) was named to the CACC Weekly Honorable Mention. Victoria has been honored by the conference twice during the course of the season as Player of the Week.
Holy Family went 3-0 last week defeating its opponents by identical 9-0 scores. The Tigers picked up non-conference victories versus St. Thomas Aquinas College and LIU Post. The team capped the week with a key CACC victory at Georgian Court University that clinched the fourth seed in this weekends CACC Tournament.
Nersesyan went a combined 6-0 this past week in doubles and singles competitions, including 3-0 at first doubles with Victoria. The duo recorded 8-1 victories against St. Thomas Aquinas and LIU Post and then picked up an 8-2 victory at Georgian Court. The first doubles partners are 9-5 overall and 5-3 in CACC action this season.
At number two singles, Nersesyan made quick work of her opponents as she allowed only three points in the three matches. Against St. Thomas Aquinas' Samantha Vinci, Nersesyan won 6-1, 6-0 and posted the same score versus LIU Post's Katie Avelar. Nersesyan finished the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Georgian Court's Melissa Dennis.
For the season, Nersesyan is 9-5 overall at second singles and 5-3 against conference opponents.
Victoria also went 3-0 on the week as she started play with a straight set shutout victory against St. Thomas Aquinas' Ana Simunovic by the scores of 6-0, 6-0. Against LIU Post, she defeated Lejla Heco by the scores of 6-0, 6-1 and then capped the week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Georgian Court's Victoria Gaffney. This season, Victoria is 9-4 overall at first singles and 6-1 against CACC opponents.
Holy Family (9-5, 5-3 CACC) is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Tigers face top-seeded Concordia College in the CACC semifinals hosted by Chestnut Hill College. Match time is slated for 10 a.m. Holy Family is making its sixth straight postseason appearance under head coach
