Shavitz has been a part of the Holy Family University women’s tennis coaching staff since its inception in 2004. Shavitz, who has over 20 years of coaching and playing experience, was an assistant for the first three seasons before taking the reigns of the program in 2007.

In his first seven seasons as head coach, Shavitz has led the Tigers to four NCAA Tournaments and the 2007 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship. During that span, the Tigers have posted an overall record of 74-56 and 38-15 in conference play.

In 2009-10, Holy Family went to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. The team also qualified for its fifth consecutive CACC Championship Tournament, becoming only one of two teams to make all five tournaments.

During the 2008-09 season, Holy Family went 11-8 overall and went to the championship match of the CACC Championship Tournament. In Shavitz’s first year as the Tigers head coach, he led the Tigers to a 15-6 overall record and their second CACC title. He was voted as the 2007 CACC Coach of the Year.

From 1998 to 2001, Shavitz was the number one flight singles player at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. At Marywood, Shavitz was a two-time runner-up in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament. In 1998, he helped lead the Pacers to a 10-9 overall record and the PAC team championship.

At 14, Shavitz was ranked in the top-five in the Philadelphia area.
